Increasing Air Traffic on Bucharest Airports
Bucharest Airports National Company registered in September 2014 a traffic of 829.396 passengers, representing an increase of almost 9% as compared to the same period of the previous year. The number of aircraft movements increased with over 9% as compared to September 2013, reaching 9.529 landings and take-offs.
The traffic on Bucharest’s two airports – Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport and Bucharest Baneasa Aurel Vlaicu International Airport – was of 6.315.511 passengers whereas the number of aircraft movements reached 77.190 for the first nine months.
The number of passengers in transit on the two airports in the first 9 months of 2014 registered an increase of almost 7,7 % as compared to the same period of last year, thus being created all the necessary premises for reaching 8 million passengers for the entire year 2014.
The evolution of the passengers’ number on Bucharest Airports National Company’s two airports exceeds the general trend recorded at European level. Furthermore, the number of aircraft movements increased on Henri Coanda and Aurel Vlaicu airports, going beyond the European trend once more. Thereby, the number of aircraft movements on Bucharest airports in the first nine months of 2014 increased with almost 5,7 % as compared to the same period of last year.
37 airlines are currently operating on Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport, carrying passengers to 87 destinations. Two new airlines started operating on Henri Coanda Airport in 2013: easyJet and Air Serbia, while, starting with 2014, Ryanair and Air Baltic operated the first flights on Henri Coanda Airport.

Bucharest Airports National Company commenced functioning on February the 5th, 2010, ensuring the operational coordination and the management of the two airports in Bucharest. The company was set up following the merger of the two companies managing at that time Bucharest’s airports: Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport and Baneasa Aurel Vlaicu International Airport.
