Bucharest Airports National Company: profit of 76 million in the first nine months and passenger traffic growth
Bucharest Airports National Company (BANC) recorded in the first nine months of 2013 a total income of 488 million lei, with a 7,5% increase compared to 2012 and the gross profit rose up to 76 million lei, three times higher than the budgeted one for the full 2013.
Total revenues for 2013 are estimated at 650 million.
Also in the first nine months of this year, the two airports in Bucharest – Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport and Aurel Vlaicu Bucharest Băneasa International Airport - registered a total of 5,866,317 passenger traffic and 73,031 commercial aircraft movements (landings and takeoffs). Compared to the same period of last year, the number of passengers increased by approximately 1%.
The evolution of the number of passengers on both Bucharest Airports National Company’s airports fits the general tendency of growth recorded in Europe. According to statistics published by the Airports Council International (ACI), in the first eight months of this year, the number of passengers from EU airports increased by 0.3% versus the same period in 2012.
In 2012, on AIHCB two new airlines began to operate: TAP Portugal and Flydubai. Starting March 25, 2012, Blue Air, Wizzair and Germanwings have transferred their flights from Bucharest Băneasa Aurel Vlaicu International Airport to Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport.
